English: Fake geode of galena N°3 (3rd picture out of 4)

Geode bought in Marrakech (Marroco) in a market. These fake are very common in Marroco and seem to be part of a real industry of fake stones.

This geode is in reality a potery with pieces of wood inside the geode, recoverd with galena.

La galène a la particularité de se cliver très facilement en morceaux pseudo-cubiques qui en imposent pour des cristaux. Il est facile d'encoller l’intérieur de géode de quartz et de saupoudrer avec les morceaux clivés de galène pour obtenir une "géode de galène" du meilleur effet.

On trouve même des géodes artificielles faites en poterie, dans lesquelles ont été plantés des bouts d'allumette, afin d'obtenir une cristallisation en pointe. Puis la géode est peinte en noire à l'extérieur et en blanc sur la tranche. Ces fausses géodes sont très courantes au Maroc.
