Superseded Diethyl phthalate 200.svg

edit

You have created a new version of the image: Diethyl phthalate 200.svg (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Diethyl_phthalate_200.svg). Why? That is not necessary at all. This is not a jpg-file but a svg-file. That meant that for one single addition to the code of the file, you have created an enitre new one. Uploading a new version of the file and changing the template from invalidSVG to validSVG would have done the trick. Now the old file is still mentioned on the page: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Invalid_SVG. Wereldburger758 (talk) 07:23, 27 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Emeldir. Du bist eingeladen, selbst eine korrigierte Version direkt drüberzuladen. Ich hatte damals nur den SVG-Bug korrigiert. --Leyo 19:12, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

--Leyo 20:13, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ach so, jetzt verstehe ich, was du meinst. – Emeldir (talk) 20:21, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Aromatic nomenclature

edit

Hi Emeldir. Thank you for your work in improving and curating chemistry images. I noticed that you marked a few polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon images with a template indicating low quality because of the orientation. The quote from IUPAC that you supplied only refers to the way that the image should be oriented for the purpose of determining its preferred systematic name. It is not a recommendation that the image needs to be drawn that way all the time, so I have removed the template from those images. Regards, Ed (Edgar181) 21:19, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

redrawn svgs

edit

Hello Emeldir, I noticed that you uploaded valid svgs that look exactly the same as the invalid ones under a different file name like in the case of Dec-1-ene ACS.svg. I don't quite understand why. I would understand if the structures looked differently but if they are the same you could just overwrite the existing one with a valid one and if needed move/rename the file. I think that would make things easier.

Cheers --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 09:49, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hallo Emeldir.

Leyo 23:00, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

– Emeldir (talk) 14:56, 27 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
--Leyo 18:39, 27 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

"combined and compressed" SVGs defeat the purpose...

edit

Hi Emeldir,

Thanks for posting nice SVGs of some chemical compounds! Unfortunately the current versions of these two (and perhaps others):

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Methyl_2-hydroxybenzoate_200.svg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%28Z%29-hex-3-en-1-yl_acetate_200.svg

are not really "good" SVGs, they appear to be PNGs or some other non-vector format placed within an SVG, so one cannot for example ungroup the paths of the objects to edit the images, defeating the whole purpose of making SVGs in the first place. The original images you posted for each (the previous versions) are actual editable SVGs. Would you mind reverting them or just posting them separately?

Thanks! - Lakmiseiru (talk) 12:02, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
