"2P/Encke (tak\u00E9 ozna\u010Dovan\u00E1 jako Enckeova kometa) je periodick\u00E1 kometa, pojmenovan\u00E1 na po\u010Dest . Enckeova komety byla objevena francouzsk\u00FDm astronomem Pierrem M\u00E9chainim roku 1786. Dal\u0161\u00ED n\u011Bkolika komet bylo pozorov\u00E1no v\u017Edy po t\u0159ech letech. \u017De jde o jednu a tu samou kometu bylo dok\u00E1z\u00E1no po v\u00FDpo\u010Dtech dr\u00E1hy, kter\u00E1 provedl Johann Encke, kter\u00FD p\u0159edpov\u011Bd\u011Bl, \u017Ee kometa se navr\u00E1t\u00ED roku 1822. Na jeho po\u010Dest nese kometa jeho jm\u00E9no, a spolu s kometou 1P/Halley jde o jedinou kometu, kter\u00E1 nenese jm\u00E9no sv\u00E9ho objevitele. Encke tedy zjistil, \u017Ee kometa se p\u0159ibl\u00ED\u017E\u00ED ke Slunci p\u0159ibli\u017En\u011B za 3,3 roky, jde tedy o kometu s nejkrat\u0161\u00ED zn\u00E1mou periodou.
