- Bert Boeren (born 1962) is a Dutch jazz trombonist and educator. Boeren was born in Vught, Netherlands, 11 March 1962. He took up the trombone at the age of sixteen, and in 1981 he went to study classical music at the Conservatory in Utrecht, in 1983 moving to the Conservatory in Hilversum in order to study jazz under . While at Hilversum he took part in workshops with some of the foremost jazz musicians of the day, including Bob Brookmeyer, Frank Foster, Bill Holman, and Mel Lewis. Since 1987 he has taught at various Conservatories and schools, including the Rotterdam Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory at the Hague. He was chosen to represent the Netherlands as a soloist at the 1989 in Budapest, in 1990 as part of the in Austria, and as a soloist at the 1991 Strasbourg . Boeren has toured worldwide, both as soloist and as a member of various bands. He has played in the , the , the Dutch Swing College Band, the , and in . In 1992 he appeared as a soloist at the Classical Jazz Festival in Palm Springs, California. He's currently playing with the , , and the .He can be heard on the Daybreak album 'en blanc et noir' #11 with the Rob van Bavel Trio. Boeren is an artist/clinician for Michael Rath Trombones. - Bert Boeren (Vught, 11 maart 1962) is een Nederlandse jazztrombonist en leraar. Boeren ging trombone spelen toen hij zestien was. In 1981 ging hij naar het conservatorium in Utrecht en in 1983 naar het conservatorium in Hilversum, waar hij jazz studeerde onder . Tijdens zijn studie in Hilversum deed hij mee aan workshops onder leiding van trombonist Bob Brookmeyer, saxofonist Frank Foster, Bill Holman, Mel Lewis en Jerry van Rooyen. Hij was solist op het in Boedapest (1989), vertegenwoordigde Nederland in 1990 in de in Oostenrijk en was in 1991 solist tijdens de European Radioweek in Straatsburg. Boeren toerde als solist en als lid van verschillende bands, waaronder de , the , de Dutch Swing College Band (waarmee hij 13 cd's opnam), de bigband van Brookmeyer en . In 1992 speelde hij als solist op het in Palm Springs. In 2000 speelde hij met Doe Maar tijdens hun reünie-concerten. Ook begeleidde hij Mathilde Santing tijdens haar theatertour in 2001. Verder speelde Boeren met jazzmusici als Clark Terry, Arnett Cobb, Toots Thielemans, Scott Hamilton en Denise Jannah. Van 2003 tot 2007 was hij lid van het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw en de . Hij speelt nu in en de . Boeren heeft ook lesgegeven aan verschillende conservatoria: in Rotterdam (1987-1990) en Den Haag (1988-1991). Sinds 2002 is hij gastdocent aan het conservatorium voor jazz-muziek in Amsterdam. (nl)
