- The California Citizens Redistricting Commission is the redistricting commission for the State of California responsible for determining the boundaries of districts for the State Senate, State Assembly, and Board of Equalization. The commission was created in 2010 and consists of 14 members: five Democrats, five Republicans, and four from neither major party. The commission was created following the passage in November 2008 of California Proposition 11, the Voters First Act. The commissioners were selected in November and December 2010 and were required to complete the new maps by August 15, 2011. Following the 2010 passage of California Proposition 20, the Voters First Act for Congress, the commission was also assigned the responsibility of redrawing the state's U.S. congressional district boundaries following the congressional apportionment arising from the 2010 United States Census. The commission has been criticized by some politicians because "many safe seats in the Legislature could suddenly become competitive." (en)
- De California Citizens Redistricting Commission is een commissie in de Amerikaanse staat Californië die belast is met het bepalen van de grenzen van kiesdistricten in de staat, met name die voor de Senaat van Californië, het State Assembly en het State Board of Equalization. Doordat kiezers in november 2010 Proposition 20 goedkeurden, werd de commissie ook belast met het hertekenen van de congresdistricten van Californië. De commissie was twee jaar eerder in het leven geroepen door een ander referendum, Proposition 11. De commissie telt 14 burgerleden en bestaat uit vijf Democraten, vijf Republikeinen en vier leden die bij geen van beide partijen horen. De eerste leden werd in november en december 2010 geselecteerd en werden gevraagd de kaarten te voltooien voor 15 augustus 2011. De kaarten werden op tijd afgewerkt en gestemd door de commissie. De hertekende districten werd op 12 juni 2012 in gebruik genomen voor de voorverkiezingen.
