- The second season of Full Metal Panic, titled Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, is a Japanese anime television series directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto and animated by Kyoto Animation. It is the third television series based on the Full Metal Panic! light novel series and is adapted from the two Ending Day by Day novels (volumes four and five). It continues the story from the first anime series, with Sousuke Sagara and his allies from Mithril facing a new organization opposing them called "Amalgam". The series aired from July 13, 2005 to October 19, 2005. An additional OVA episode was released on DVD. The opening theme was "Southerly Wind" (南風, Minami Kaze) and the ending theme was "I Want to See You Again" (もう一度君に会いたい, Mou Ichido Kimi ni Aitai), both performed by Mikuni Shimokawa. The series was licensed for the North American market by Funimation but the production work and English dubbing was done by A.D. Vision. (en)

- Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (フルメタル パニック！The Second Raid Furu Metaru Panikku! The Second Raid?) è il terzo capitolo dell'anime dedicato all'universo di Full Metal Panic!. In realtà The Second Raid si propone come il vero e proprio seguito delle vicende narrate nella prima serie televisiva. Le atmosfere scolastiche di Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, intrise di gag e situazioni paradossali, lasciano nuovamente il passo all'azione e all'evolversi della storia. Basato sui due romanzi "The end of Day by Day" di Shōji Gatō, rispettivamente i numeri otto e nove della serie, l'anime si compone di 13 episodi di 25 minuti circa. Gli episodi da 4 a 7 sono la trasposizione del VIII romanzo, mentre gli episodi da 8 a 13 sono la trasposizione del IX romanzo.La serie è andata in onda per la prima volta in Giappone sul canale WOWOW, dal 13 luglio al 19 ottobre 2005. I diritti per la distribuzione in Italia nel circuito home-video sono stati acquistati dalla Dynit, che distribuisce l'intera serie in 4 DVD, usciti il 29 ottobre 2008 (DVD 1), il 26 novembre 2008 (DVD 2), il 12 dicembre 2008 (DVD 3) e il 28 gennaio 2009 (DVD 4). La serie è stata trasmessa ogni martedì alle ore 21.30, su MTV, dal 28 ottobre 2008 al 3 febbraio 2009. Tale serie ha però alcune discrepanze con il romanzo: i primi quattro episodi sono stati scritti appositamente per la serie e sono stati introdotti dei personaggi completamente nuovi, ma è stata comunque riservata notevole attenzione al non dar luogo ad alcuna contraddizione. Esiste anche un OAV, seguito di The Second Raid, dal titolo Wari to hima na sentaichō no ichinichi (lett. "Un giorno relativamente tranquillo del colonnello"), uscito il 26 maggio 2006. Quest'ultima opera ha come protagonista il colonnello Teletha Testarossa, ed è di genere umoristico. (it)
