Legally a company limited by guarantee, it was incorporated on 19 July 2021, and begin establishment operation on 1 December 2021 after Singapore Press Holdings Limited completed the transfer of its media business. It forms part of a duopoly on the mass media of Singapore, with the other player being Mediacorp.
