  • Náisiúntóir agus polaiteoir Manannach cáiliúil a bhí i Illiam Dhone, Uilliam Donn sa Ghaeilge nó Uilliam an Críostaí [1] (nó Uilliam Dhôan, Béarla: William Christian nó Brown-haired William; 14 Aibreán 1608 – 2 Eanáir 1663). Ba mhac leis an mbreitheamh Ewan Christian é. Sa bhliain 1648 cheap Tiarna Mhanann, Jamys Stanlagh, 7ú Iarla Derby, Uilliam mar Riarthóir Mhanann. Sa bhliain 1651 chuaigh an tIarla go Sasana chun troid ar thaobh agus fágadh mílíste an oileáin i lámha Uilliam. Gabhadh an tIarla i gCath Worcester. An bhean chéile aige, Charlotte de la Tremouille, bhí cónaí uirthi ar an Oileán, agus rinne sí iarracht a fear a shaoradh trí chaint leis na parlaiminteoirí a bhuaigh. Láithreach tosaíodh éirí amach, Éirí Amach Mhanann 1651, faoi stiúir Uilliam mar thoradh air sin agus mar thoradh ar réitigh riartha talún a thug an tIarla isteach go gairid roimhe sin. Ghabh na reibiliúnaithe go leor de dhúnta an oileáin agus chuaigh Uilliam i mbun pléití leis na parlaiminteoirí. Ba ghairid go raibh an t-oileán i lámha an Choirnéil Robert Duckenfield, a bhí tar éis an cabhlach parlaiminteach a thabhairt go Manainn i nDeireadh Fómhair 1651. Bhí ar Ben-Eearley Derby an dá dhun aici, Caisleán Roisean agus Caisleán Phort na hInse a ghéilleadh agus d'fhan Uilliam ar an oileán ina Riarthóir Mhanann. Bhí sé ina Rialtóir ar Mhanainn sa bhliain 1656 ina dhiaidh sin. (ga)
