- Kwak Jaesik (곽재식; Gwak Jaesik) is a South Korean novelist, science fiction writer and chemist. He is best known for stories of ordinary people with plot twists of science fiction or fantasy elements. Some of his work has been adapted to television drama and comics. Kwak has also written experimental literature including 140 Character Stories (140자 소설) posted on a Twitter account, which was featured on an EBS radio show's introduction. (en)
- 곽재식(郭財植, 1982년 ~ )은 숭실사이버대학교 환경안전공학과 교수이자 소설가이다. 부산외고 중국어과를 졸업하고 KAIST에 진학하여 2002년에 학사 학위를 취득하고, 대학원에 진학해 화학을 전공하여 석사 학위를 취득하였다. 최종 학력은 연세대학교 공학박사다. 이후 연구원으로 활동하면서 소설가를 겸업하고 있다. 대체로 작품 경향은 평범한 일상을 재미있게 묘사하는 가운데 반전이 많다고 평가되고 있다. 과학소설 장르에서도 활발히 활동하고 있으며, 발표된 작품 중 일부는 텔레비전 드라마화 또는 만화화되기도 하였다. 곽재식은 실험적인 소설 또한 써오고 있는데, 그의 140자 소설은 트위터 포스팅 하나 안에서 모든 이야기가 완결되는 극단적으로 짧은 환상소설과 과학소설로, EBS 라디오 방송에서 소개된 이후 널리 알려졌다.
