- La Task Force 17 ou TF 17 a été une task force de la United States Navy pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. La TF 17 a été constituée autour du Yorktown sous les ordres du contre amiral Frank J. Fletcher. La TF participe à la Bataille de la mer de Corail au début du mois de mai et à la bataille de Midway au cours de laquelle le Yorktown finit par être coulé. Le Yorktown est alors remplacé par le USS Hornet sous les ordres du contre amiral George D. Murray. La TF participa à la bataille des îles Santa Cruz au cours de laquelle le Hornet fut coulé. Par après, la TF devint une force de support intégrant des sous-marins, notamment au cours de l'opération Forager où divers task groups de la TF furent intégrés aux opérations.

- Task Force 17 (TF17) was an aircraft carrier task force of the United States Navy during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. TF17 participated in several major carrier battles in the first year of the war. TF17 was initially centered around USS Yorktown. With Yorktown, TF17 engaged Imperial Japanese Navy forces in actions at the Marshalls-Gilberts raids, Invasion of Lae-Salamaua, Battle of the Coral Sea, and the Battle of Midway. Yorktown was sunk at Midway. Reformed around USS Hornet and commanded by RADM George Murray, TF17 supported Allied forces during the Guadalcanal campaign. At the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, Hornet was sunk. After the battle the task force ceased to exist, the remaining ships (the cruiser and destroyer escorts) were then dispersed to other duties.
