The age of the village is over 800 years. It is first mentioned in document from 1446. The religion is entirely Eastern Orthodox Christianity. The settlement is located in the Radomir field - in ancient times this geological field was the bottom of a lake. The area was called Dark because of the frequent fog.Near the village is the fortress Gradishte. The fortress was built as an observation tower during the reign of Tsar Michael Shishman in 1225. In 1205, the Crusaders passed through the area where the village is now. For drinking needs they dug a well, which still exists today, under the name Bank Well. The area was waterless and this was the first water source.Due to the lack of water, they named the place Zhedna. The church "St. Dimitri Mirotochets ”has been declared an artistic monument of culture. In the village can be seen a century-old oak, whose age is over 300 years. The circumference of the log is 4.70 meters. It is home to farmers and some elderly people. The Village has 3 Restaurants and a small local Market. (en)
