Abstract

Aesthetic surgery in gynaecology is performed in the psychosexually sensitive areas of the breast, abdomen and external genitalia. Therefore, a particularly sensitive discussion of the patient’s objectives, motivation and her informed consent is required. Preoperatively, specific, unsparing and extensive patient information on rare complications is also required. Specialized surgical training in the field of aesthetic surgery is mandatory and is both claimed and offered according to the curricula of national gynaecological associations. Of special relevance is assessment of the potential individual benefit to each patient.
