Anissa is a major antagonist in Invincible, serving from Season 2 and onward.
She is a high-ranking Viltrumite warrior and the most powerful female Viltrumite of the Viltrum Empire, dedicated to aiding the Viltrumite mission to make it the only empire in the universe.
Appearance
Anissa is a tall, tan-skinned woman with short, cropped black hair, high cheekbones, and blue eyes. She is considered very beautiful and attractive with slender yet curvaceous frame. At the same time, she sports a toned and well-defined athletic musculature. Like the rest of her race, she wears the traditional Viltrumite outfit, however unlike most, the outfit's front area is colored grey, with the Viltrumite logo of a linear three by three symbol shape cover the circular logo.
Personality
Anissa possesses a captivating blend of beauty and power. While she may be seen as more of a soldier than a warrior, her practical and logical nature is evident. Anissa demonstrates a remarkable level of understanding, striving to be reasonable and compassionate or at least restrained. Attempting to convince Mark that conquest by the Viltrumites would spare the people of Earth from unnecessary suffering and pain all the while securing a prosperous future.
However, beneath her reasonable and perhaps compassionate demeanor, she is still a Viltrumite, and thus, predisposed to use force in response to opposition, to ascertain dominance. She takes it upon herself to "educate" Mark, helping him realize the overwhelming odds he faces. Still, Anissa's disciplined and rational approach sets her apart from the more bloodthirsty Viltrumites. While she shares their ruthless tendencies, she still desires to minimize needless human casualties, hoping to avoid a full-scale massacre in the Viltrum Empire goal to take control of Earth. Yet, for all her mental discipline, honed from centuries of experiences, she finds herself helplessly baffled to Invincible's illogical empathy towards the people of Earth.
Being the proud soldier that she is, Anissa takes great pride in her strength, and was uniquely vexed upon learning that Allen, a Unopan, was able to injure her with relative ease.

Trivia
- Anissa is based off of Faora from the DC Comics, and Fasha from Dragon Ball Z.
- All of them have similar appearances: short dark hair, are very unique fighters, and last letter of their name ends with an "a".
- Her physical appearance and build is also similar to two other short dark haired characters: Supergirl from The Flash, played by Sasha Calle and Dr. Anna Ripely from The Legend of Vox Machina.
- There are a few differences between this version of the character and the original comic version:
- In the comics, Anissa has been married four times.
- In the comics, Anissa was born during the Argall Era, it's unknown if this version of the character was also present in that time period.
- In her comic debut, circa issue 44, she threatened Debbie Grayson, rather than Amber Bennett who had broken up with Mark Grayson way before she came to earth, but placed no hands on Debbie and appeared at the university.
- There is a DC comic character called Thunder, real name Anissa Jones, that debuted the same year the Invincible comic run started.
- Ironically, in some cultures, Anissa means joy, grace, pure, and affectionate.
