The Carbonite Reward is an additional mode in which the player can melt some carbonite to save the character inside. It can be on the Bird Side or the Pork Side. This process takes eight hours, though it can be instantaneous with the use of Credits or (formerly) alternatively watch an ad to earn that character, and requires Wi-Fi connection. It debuted in the Carbonite Pack update.
It still works alongside the Rovio Account feature despite both requiring an internet connection when the online servers closed in 2020.
