Frigid Blast (絶破烈氷撃, Zeppa Rehhyougeki?, "Severing Tear Raging Ice Attack") is an Ice-elemental melee arte in the Tales series.
Arte Description and History
Frigid Blast involves the user concentrating ice energy into their palm. They then release it in an icy explosion. In Tales of the Abyss, this arte can only be used when Luke fon Fabre or Asch uses Raging Blast in a fully-charged Water or Dark FOF Circle.
In Tales of Vesperia, this is an altered arte learned with the Great Deluge skill equipped while using Final Gale, until it is mastered. After this, it is available as a separate arte that does not require the skill to be equipped in order to be used. As the arte is derived from Final Gale, Yuri Lowell performs two freezing slashes that stays in place before shattering it with a palm strike, releasing an icy wind.
In Tales of Xillia, this is a linked arte used by Jude Mathis and Rowen J. Ilbert. In the files, there is also a voice clip of this arte used by Gilland and Celsius. However, they do not have access to this arte in the final version of the game.
