The Ninja (忍者?) is a recurring job class in the Tales series.
Job Characteristics
The Ninja's weapons of choice are daggers and ninja swords. In certain games, Ninjas are an upgrade of the Thief or Fighter job. The Ninja's fighting style often involves elemental attacks and attacking quickly. Some of their attacks involve them jumping into the air, which makes them perfect at dodging enemies. The armor type the job can usually equip are light and heavy armor. Physically, they are strong and have high Speed, but their Hit Points and Defense are low. Standard artes usually associated with the Ninja job include Merciless Thunder, Crow Blade, and Quasi Seal.
Appearances
Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon
In the original Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, the Ninja costume is part of the Thief branch of costumes. However, the three preceding Thief costumes are not offensively inclined, and the two Ninja costumes which complete the Thief set feature a significant change in fighting style. In addition to enabling a more effective offense supplemented with the introduction of elemental melee attacks, the most powerful Ninja costume eventually obtains an ability that provides a status which heals over time for the entire duration of each battle once activated, rivaling the healing spells of Priest-themed costumes. The Ninja costumes are based on the fighting style of Suzu Fujibayashi.
The two Ninja costumes are:
The basic "Ninja" costume is available to both Dio and Mel, but the more powerful "Ninja Lord" is used exclusively by Dio.
Tales of Phantasia: Narikri Dungeon X
Dio has a series of Ninja-type costumes, specializing in speedy attacks and debuffs, that act in complement and contrast to his Thief costumes. The costumes of this family are:
Shinobi (忍?, "Ninja") Onmitsu (隠密?, "Hidden Shadow") Shinobi Lord (忍頭, Shinobi Gashira?, "Ninja Lord")
Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2
The "Ninja" set is a series of costumes for Julio Sven and Caro Orange in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2. A costume of any element can be merged with a Kunai (くない?) root item to get a Ninja costume of the same element. The Ninja job class is needed if the player wants to meet Suzu. All Ninja costumes have the unique passive skill Keikai (けいかい?), which will not allow enemies to surprise the party, preventing them from disrupting the initial battle formation.
The costumes of this family are:
Non-Elemental: Ninja (忍者?) Fire: Kaen Ninja (火炎忍者?, "Flame Ninja") Wind: Arashi (アラシ?, "Tempest")
Kamaitachi (カマイタチ?, "Whirlwind")(Male only)
(Female only)Water: Kirigakure (霧隱れ?, "Secret Mist")
Tsunade (つなで?)(Male only)
