Bodil Bodilsson

Bodil Bodilsson was a Norse who reigned as a jarl of Lunden during the city's occupation by the Great Heathen Army during the 9th century.

Considered as one of the three "Great Jarls of Lunden", Bodil was known to be a peacekeeper and for that, it allowed him to outlive the other jarls of his time. During his tenure, Bodil constructed the Bodilsburg Garrison which later became a stronghold by the 870s. Bodil and two of his sons, Bjorn and Thor, later died of a plague prior to 873. His remaining son Erke later served as a reeve of Lunden under governor Tryggr.[1]
