Funkcija
urediOrnitin-dekarboksilaza (ODC) katalizira pretvaranje ornitina u putrescin u prvom i očiglednom koraku ograničavanja brzine u biosintezi poliamina. Antizim ornitin-dekarboksilaza ima ulogu u regulaciji sinteze poliamina, vezivanjem i inhibiranjem ornitin-dekarboksilaze. Protein kodiran ovim genom vrlo je sličan ODC-u. Veže se na ODC antizim i stabilizira ODC, čime se inhibira razgradnja ODC-a posredovana pomoću enzima. Za ovaj gen su pronađene dvije alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta.[7]
