Launchpad McQuack

Launchpad McQuack is a character originally created for the Disney animated television series DuckTales. He was Scrooge McDuck's pilot, known for his tendency to crash any planes that he took control of. Despite his absent-minded nature, Launchpad is very courageous and always keeps calm in tense situations, and always comes to the aid of his friends whenever he finds them in danger. He was later featured on Darkwing Duck, in which he moved to St. Canard to serve as the title superhero's sidekick, and also help him raise his adopted daughter, Gosalyn.

Darkwing Duck

Although the original DuckTales never had a Christmas episode (aside from the storybook Christmas at the North Pole), Launchpad did appear prominently in the Darkwing Duck Christmas episode "It's a Wonderful Leaf". Early on in the episode, he assists Drake Mallard (Darkwing's secret identity) in helping him decorate his Christmas tree, though he gets tied to the tree by Drake's Christmas lights. Later, he is shown helping Drake do his Christmas shopping when they suddenly overhear other customers complaining that someone is stealing their things. After he and Darkwing find out that Bushroot is behind the Yuletide crime spree currently plaguing St. Canard, they spend most of the evening pursuing the antagonistic half-plant mutant. After they manage to recover the Christmas gifts that Bushroot has been stealing, Darkwing tells Launchpad, along with Gosalyn and her best friend Honker Muddlefoot, to bring the gifts back to their rightful owners while he goes after Bushroot.

In the same holiday season in which "It's a Wonderful Leaf" originally aired, Launchpad also appeared with his fellow Disney Afternoon stars in a specially-made piece of promotional animation that aired during commercial breaks on the network affiliates that carried the block. In this promo, Launchpad, along with Drake and Gosalyn, appears to be paying a visit to his old friends in Duckburg for Christmas Eve, though he is only seen at the very end.

Launchpad has comparatively minor roles in "Last Christmas!" and "How Santa Stole Christmas!", the Christmas episodes of the DuckTales reboot.

Between the two episodes, Launchpad also appeared in a Broken Karaoke short in which he sang "Deck the Halls" alongside Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Baymax, Anne Boonchuy, and Tilly Green.
