About Claudia Picado
Claudia Picado is a Features Writer based in Miami, FL. She graduated from NYU with a BS in Media, Culture, and Communication, and a BA in Spanish. She is passionate about the ways film and television both reflect and impact how we perceive the world around us. Her favorite topics of discussion include Succession, rom-coms (good and bad), women in front of and behind the camera, and her love-hate relationship with Christopher Nolan. Some of her favorite directors are Yorgos Lanthimos, David Fincher, and Greta Gerwig, and she’ll watch anything starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus or Saoirse Ronan. She tries to incorporate social issues and feminist critiques in her writing whenever possible, and will passionately defend even the most “unlikeable” of female characters.
Favorite Media
Some of her favorite movies are The Social Network, Little Miss Sunshine, Carol, The Lobster, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and favorite shows include Veep, Succession, Mr. Robot, Midnight Mass, and Fleabag.
A newfound horror fan, she considers herself a Mike Flanagan aficionado and is in the process of catching up on all the horror movies she never watched in the first twenty-something years of her life (some favorites include Rosemary's Baby and the original Black Christmas). She also harbors a deep anthropological fascination with Love Island UK.
