Per this admission, these are not the uploader's own work. Most are likely copyright violations even if they were provided by Mark DiBello as he is the subject of most the photos and not necessarily the copyright holder.

Appears to be a copy of a physical image taken with a phone (as seen by EXIF data suggesting it was taken by an iPhone 16 Pro Max). Maybe I'm wrong, but doubt that it is noncopyrighted and their own work (as it was added to Commons in an edit to Wikipedia). TheTechie (talk) 00:40, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It is indeed an image which belongs to my grandmother which I came across today, hence my work on his page today! Happy to provide any further additional proof, it is a physical copy which was encompassed in a picture frame in the household, I can send over the full image if you would like?

The only dating we have is this is a work from the 1940s, and the only information about the author is "Shirota Tsuneo was a Japanese artist who was active in the 1940s." It's not impossible the author is living, so there's no reason to think this is PD-Japan or PD-1996. Prosfilaes (talk) 00:45, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
