Arthropoda (other than insects)
Same as Commons:Photo challenge/2016 - September - Arthropods. It's a topic that will be worth to repeat.
- Support as submitter; wait until at least 2019-10 so it's not too close to the insects challenge. – b_jonas 12:47, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Dawn is my favourite moment of the day and it would be fine if we could do a photo challenge about it.

- Support We all, of course, have images of "dusk and dawn", mostly displaying a sky with a full palette of brilliant colours. And so have all our potential contributors.
I assume that such a challenge would lean slightly more towards the desires of the "photographically oriented community" and correspondingly less towards the "taking images for Wiki usage members", but now and then one should provide a challenge that gives way to photographers' desires.
Addendum: The limitations of sensor and film material in combination with the overtly dynamical illumination of these scenes would make this challenge especially attractive to those capable of correctly processing HDR images. -- Franz van Duns (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2019 (UTC) - Support Good idea, maybe include dusk too? -- Ben.Walko (talk)

- Oppose Sunsets provide great images, but we have a ton of them and they are not very useful for the wikipedia projects. --Jarekt (talk) 14:54, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

- "Skies" is precisely the kind of picture we don't need more sunrises/sunsets of. Better to have landscapes, cityscapes, etc. taken at dawn. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 14:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

- Comment As a random Wikipedia editor, I can confirm that this would indeed not be useful if it was about "generic" dawn photos. However, maybe it could prove useful if it was combined with a second category, e.g. "Cities at dawn" or "Working at dawn"? That way, you can both have the special lighting, but also something that could be used in an article. Something like these [1] [2], only at high quality. --LordPeterII (talk) 20:33, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- I agree but that should be done through new proposal with a new gallery. --Jarekt (talk) 23:38, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Islands in freshwater lakes
This topic would be a source of inspiration for all contributors. Islands in freshwater lakes could be a very rich theme, that we will have lots of fantastic pictures. The category could be expanded with the theme "Islands in the ocean", but I prefer to propose it for another topic.

Samples at Commons:Photo challenge/2019 - May - Insects. This one is infinitely repeatable every three years, won't run out. Wait at least six months after the other arthropods theme.
