Description 330-CFD-DF-SD-03-03318: Two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters from the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron North Island, California, move in for a landing near Phillips Hills in the New Mexican desert during a familiarization flight for the joint service exercise, ROVING SANDS '97. The mission will include a search for Scud missile sites in the Alamogordo Bombing Range. The helicopters are participating in the exercise as part of the Red Forces. ROVING SANDS is a multinational effort and is the largest military exercise on United States soil that allows training in a joint environment to hone command and control procedures and integrate new systems in Theater and Air Missile Defense, 4/20/1997 SSGT Cedric H.
