Object history
Deutsch: Das grüne St.Galler Wappen besteht aus einem Bündel mit acht Stäben, in deren Mitte ein Beil eingeschlossen ist. Die Stäbe symbolisieren die acht Bezirke, aus denen sich der Kanton laut der ersten Kantonsverfassung von 1803 zusammensetzte. Die Bänder standen für den Zusammenhalt und das Beil für die gemeinsame Stärke.
