(The Colosseum was built later in the central area by the Flavian emperors.) The map features: * on the Palatine hill Domus Augusti, Domus Tiberiana and Domus Neronis? (houses of the emperors), * on the Caelius hill the Templum divi Claudi (temple for emperor Claudius), Nymphaeum Neronis (temple for a local nymph by Nero, fountain) and another Nymphaeum?, * on the Oppius hill Thermae Neronis? (public bath of Nero), Domus aurea (Oppius) (part of the Domus Aurea), Domus Selani (house of Selanus) and Hortus Maecenatis (Garden of Maecenas) * in the centre the large statue of Nero Colussus Neronis in the Domus Aurea (Vestibulum) and the large pool of the Domus Aurea (Stagnum). |
