Description
English: in 1904, Agnes Down (upper left) was pregnant after having had a relationship with Charles Austin (not pictured); Dr. T. D. Ferguson (lower left) illegally performed an abortion on her, claiming it was for appendicitis, but Down died a few weeks later. Ferguson was charged with manslaughter, and Edwin Snow (upper right) (her former college professor, with whom she had also had a relationship) was charged as an accomplice.
