Description
English: 040709-N-0295M-003 Washington, D.C.,– Two U.S. Marines lower the American flag flown over the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, located in Washington, D.C. Flags flown over the memorial are made available to retiring military personal, and many military ceremonies and formal presentations. Felix DeWeldon sculpted the memorial after the famous flag-raising scene at the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. The memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in the defense of the United States since 1775. For more information go to: http://www.nps.gov/gwmp/usmc.htm
