Exact Duplicates

Re your comment at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Cicero transparent.png, I expect {{Duplicate}} was removed because they were not exact duplicates. {{Duplicate}} is only for speedy deleting exact duplictes, other deletions need to be discussed first. --Tony Wills (talk) 22:11, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Problem with Fonts in svg, persisting

Hi!

Thanks for the help, because its still really difficult to navigate through wikimedias help sections and generally it seems very difficult to communicate and manage files with all the {{}} thing, I take the liberty to start a talk, don't know if its appropriate, suppose I'm just not used with all the way wikimedia uploading categorizing and helping functions.

Since I see you solved my problem, may I ask for some more help please? I work solely in AI, and because AI is not "capable" of producing a "normal" svg file, I was obliged to "pass them through" Inkscape. I never heard of cloning fonts in AI, could you give me some hints / help on how to continue restructuring my files to upload them correctly, and what did you mean by unnecessary included bitmaps..

Oh, nice, i'm happy you find it usefull. But i think you'll have to do some cleaning, i didn't really write it in a proper way for people to reuse it easily.

For example, for User:Perhelion/Editbar2.js, you might not need buttons : WTFPL , Bloc and Laius ( ReUse-bouton ). Sorry, some comments are in french.

For User:Lilyu/QuickDelete.js , User:Lilyu/Gadgets.js , User:Lilyu/vector.js , User:Lilyu/vector.css : there are dependencies. They can't work one without another, just adding importScript('User:Lilyu/Gadgets.js'); will not work. To describe what it does : it adds a Gadgetbox before the interwikis in the left menu of the screen (so it should be just after the Toolbox). This box contains links for fast tagging files pages. When you click on one, it opens a dialog box to add a motivation.

You don't need to add one (just click on the proceed button). If you have added one, it will specify a tagger's motivation on the file's description page in the template [1] or above the template [2] if the template doesn't have a field for that. It also add this motivation under the template used on the uplaoder's talkpage.

Notice there's an option to get a tracklist User:Perhelion/Tracklist : i use it to keep track about "what file - uploader - tagUsed - date", so that when the file is deleted, i can remove it and the uploader's talkpage from my watchlist. It also allows me to see what files i tagged were not yet deleted after few days.

You can use File:Sandbox-Test.svg and User talk:Lilyubot for tests

I created this script to fulfill my own needs and preferences, but if you want to change anything, just tell me. You can also copy/paste User:Lilyu/QuickDelete2.js to one of your own subpages to do the changes yourself : like if you want the gadget box somewhere else, if you want to change its shape, if you don't want to be prompted the dialog box for some templates, if you want to add other templates etc.Lilyu (talk) 00:40, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

hello, thankyou for your interest in my work. i was cheking the links you sent me. i for one dont see the need for a category only for my work. i believe with the Category:Smilies - aliens they are more than good represented. i do have on the other hand have a template with all the green alien version i have done: {{Other versions/smiley green alien}}. if you still want to create a template for each of them, then go ahead. but i am not sue what would be the aplication for such. in any case thankyou for your effort.-LadyofHats (talk) 19:37, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

BadJPEG template discussion

Dcoetzee has modified the English message in BadJPEG template to prohibit its use for scans and photographs [3]. I think, such modification is irrelevant and was not agreed upon during the discussion. Moreover, no alternatives were proposed. I have expressed my concerns in the follow-ups. However, I'm afraid that my arguments are/will not be considered simply because of the personal dislike [4]. If you have time, please comment on the situation (link to the discussion). Eye of Horus

I don't mean to offend, but I don't see the reasoning behind your changes to Eye of Horus bw.svg; it looks a little odd. Egyptian depictions of the Eye of Horus usually don't include a distinct iris, instead making the pupil and iris black (as it is here and (Wadjet.jpg here). When there is an iris, it is brown, as it is here. I don't know why the original version of the graphic was grey—it may have been to distinguish between the pupil and the eyeliner—but I'd just as soon see the pupil all black. A. Wappen Landkreis Meißen

Hallo Perhelion,

Mit den Artikeln habe ich nichts zu tun, ich habe nur vor Jahren sehr viele Landkreiswappen hochgeladen, darunter auch das des LK Meißen, die deshalb auf meiner Beobachtungsliste sind. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hallo, in den Categories Valid SVG und Invalid SVG erscheint deine Seite User:Perhelion/vector.js. Das ist nicht sehr sinnvoll. Wenn du eine Möglichkeit findest den Aufruf so zu gestalten dass deine Seite nicht kategorisiert wird, wäre das sicher besser. -- sarang사랑 09:34, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
