Since you seem to be interested in Catholic church buildings all over the world, you might like the en:Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches. In the 1800s, western Ohio and eastern Indiana was heavily settled by German immigrants. In one rural area of Ohio, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood built many Gothic churches on flat landscape. Check it out!

Photo request

Since you travel a bit in Ohio, would you mind helping with en:User:Nyttend/Ohio when possible? Basically, I'm trying to get at least one decent picture for each municipality and township (unincorporated areas only) statewide, and there are almost five hundred locations still left to be illustrated. Anything decently representative of a municipality or township would work: houses or commercial districts, typical countryside, or local landmarks such as parks, monuments, or churches. If you're interested in helping, I'd suggest just looking at the page to see which places along your planned route still need photos. Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 21:13, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

PS, if you look at the page and know of an already-on-Commons picture for a jurisdiction that isn't illustrated, it would definitely be helpful if you added that image. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. Substitution for the image of the day: 2025-11-14]

Hi, I just substituted the image that you proposed for this date: Template:Potd/2025-11-14, because the photogrape of the Ornithorhynchus anatinus had been previously selected for another date: Template:Potd/2026-05-04. I also noticed that you suggested a different image for the 2025-10-31. I agree with you that the illustration of Davy Jones is more funny, and maybe a better choise for Halloween. However, the description of the previous image had been already translated in a second language (Italian).
