Hello, Splette!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Could you update this with the 2009 figure? It is available in the English language article, wind power section 5 Wind power usage. 75.41.110.200 21:56, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am currently not in Germany and don't have the file with me. I can take care of it when I get back. Splette (talk) 18:06, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can you lift the text 'Somalia' a little bit up? Because Somalia lies a bit more north. And the road never reached Kenya and northern Tanzania. Thanks in advance. Runehelmet (talk) 12:10, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can you explain me why are some lines bliue and others red? Thank you! --130.206.138.231 09:22, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Red is land route and the blue is the sea/water route. Your welcome.Runehelmet (talk) 19:32, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

You are of course right. Somalia was misplaces. The reason was because I just stuck to the original image. I have now fixed the label. If you need anything else, leave me a message on my English WP talk page because I rarely check messages here. Splette (talk) 10:17, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
