English: Fort Anomabu (Annamaboe, Anamabu, Anomabo) was built 1652/1653 by the Swedish on the spot of an old abandoned English and later Dutch factory. The British name of the fort after 1753 was Fort Charles and later Fort William. Probably with the events which headed for the Second English-Dutch War, but at the latest with the Third English-Dutch Sea War (1672-1674), this fort was abandoned again and 1679 new occupated and re-builded by the British.
