Charcoal manufacture
English: The process of charcoal manufacture is called charcoal-burning. It is done in a charcoal clamp or a charcoal kiln. The wood is burnt in the near-absence of oxygen, driving off the volatiles, but leaving the black carbon (carbonization). The carbonized wood is called charcoal. Charcoal burns with more intense heat and less smoke than the original wood; it is also much lighter to transport.
