How to make a request

Autopatrol
editAs a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag. |

Hello, I'm requesting 'autopatrol' rights to be able to rewrite photographs/pictures uploaded by others. I'm usually doing some manual contrast corrections, rotating, cropping – with preserving the EXIF data –, fixing incorrect labels in drawings, mistakes in graphs etc. – mainly (or only) on my 'home' (Czech) wikipedia, where I also have autopatrol rights. Of course I'm not going to use those stupid AI enhancements, or tweak contrast or colours 'over the top' in decent old paintings. Some examples: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Elektrárna_Chvaletice.JPG ; https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Overview_of_RKS_Moravské_Budějovice_transmitter_near_Domamil,_Třebíč_District.jpg Thanks in advance.. --Osidor (talk) 01:33, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- File:Elektrárna Chvaletice.JPG is an example to me of an overwrite that shouldn't have been done. Abzeronow (talk) 19:17, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

- I am experienced editor with over 2,500 edits since 2014 and I've done overwriting images before for necessary fixes and corrections for maps and diagrams and would like to do so.

- I have been a user on Wikipedia for 18 years, six months and 25 days, made over 55k edits on the main Wiki and 779 edits on Commons, and have been uploading to Commons for over ten years. Would love the opportunity to receive autopatrol rights at this time. Thank you. Livelikemusic (talk) 17:38, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

editAs a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large amount of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right. |
I have repeatedly asked how to apply for file name rights, but I have not received a precise answer. Here follows my very first attempt to write such an application:

- Edit count is below 1,000. The 4 FM requests you made this year look good. I agree with User:GPSLeo that you may need more familiarity with file renaming guidelines. Abzeronow (talk) 20:51, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Not done, edit count is too low. After increasing the number of contributions, please request it again. Thank you for contributing to Commons! Kadı Message 21:31, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

- In the past ten years, I have uploaded almost 4,000 photographs to Commons, and I reckon that it would be helpful if I could correct my own file naming inaccuracies as well as mistakes. Thank you. Johannes Maximilian (talk) 16:31, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I would like to request these rights. Sometimes I just mess up my own file names and need to quick fix those, but I am also often improving metadata of old files and fixing naming errors from older files helps a lot. I have been an active contributor on this site for almost 2 years now, I have auto-patrol rights, and I actively work in the public domain community with Duke (see my user page). I believe I am trustworthy, vetted, and a great candidate for this! Best, SDudley (talk) 03:22, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

- Hello, I am currently in the process of categorization of several images, and a large number of images in these categories have obvious generic and not very useful names, like files in Category:Main door of Saint Anne Parish Church (Gordon Heights, Olongapo). As there are several more images with filenames such as these, I would like to rename some of them to more descriptive names while in the process of improving their categorization. Thank you.
