Particle Bed Reactor

Particle Bed Reactor is a solid core nuclear thermal rocket engine where fuel elements are spherical UO₂ surrounded by several layers for fission fragments retention and chemical protection. Liquid hydrogen flows through these elements packed between cylindrical porous frits and exhausts at 3000 K with a specific impulse of 1000 s.
