A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Don 2017-07-17 1710Z.jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please do not reupload deleted images
edit
I see you have once again uploaded Jose 2017-09-08 1425Z (EOSDIS).jpg after it has been deleted. Please don't do that—as long as you haven't fixed the problem with it, it will just get deleted again and you might eventually be blocked. If you don't know what the problem is, ask the administrator who originally deleted your file (see the deletion log). --B dash (talk) 09:09, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Over categorization
editHurricane and other tropical cyclone need only have the category for that storm (as Category:HurricaneDanielle (2004)) all the other categories are redundant. Another point, the date in the desription is not the upload date but the date the photo was taken.

File:Robyn 1993-08-07 0300Z.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Thanks for uploading File:Sperry 1987-06-28 0300Z.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

I'm looking for more information on File:Tip 1979-10-12.jpg. Are you sure this is authored by NOAA and not just published by them? File:Tip Oct 12 1979 peak.jpg, which looks like the same image (in gray scale) was deleted because it was actually authored by National Institute of Informatics (see Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:1979 Pacific typhoon season). That image is still used in File:Strongest tropical cyclones2.png (the gray scale image near the center) so PD status needs to be confirmed or the image(s) deleted. Finnusertop (talk) 01:21, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not exactly sure. Someone not on Wikimedia requested me to superimpose this image on a blue marble background. If it is indeed the same image then it can be deleted, I can always find a higher resolution image from a similar time frame. CooperScience (talk) 02:40, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

Autopatrol given
editHello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. -- ~riley (talk) 03:57, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Some old images
editI was wondering if you still upload satellite images of old tropical cyclones. If so, there are a few things that I need from you. I found a few storms that need better composite images and I was wondering if you could help. I want the images to be approximately in true colour (example). There's going to be a lot of images to upload (especially for 1998), but hopefully, it won't be too much for you to handle. I will only request images for tropical cyclones in the North Atlantic that peaked as a Category 5 hurricane or had their names retired no earlier than 1976. If you accept, I will provide the specific date for certain storms at certain meteorological events and the articles the image will be used. Let me know what you think. If not, thanks for responding. Zzzs (talk) 03:30, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- I can probably make something happen; imagery is reliably available to me for 1979 onward. Geographic area-wise imagery is readily available for the North Atlantic, Eastern and Southern Pacific. CooperScience (talk) 23:36, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- I was trying to take a break, but I forgot that I made this request. Anyway, only 1979? Disappointing, especially since you've uploaded images of storms that occured before the arbitrary date (example). You can take as much time as you need. Since it appears that you're fine with it, I'll just list the stuff here. Everything should be for the English Wikipedia.
