Flodo Span was a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

History

Flodo Span was a sentient gas from Inner Tasnia, whose body was incorporated by a Green Lantern Ring. Along with other Green Lanterns, Flodo created a group settled on Klyminade, where he faced the renegade Sinestro, paired with a sentient sector merged with a MadGod. The group was decimated, and only three members remained, one of them being Flodo. Eventually, they joined a group led by John Stewart and confronted the escaped criminals. The MadGod was finally defeated by Span who spread his volume to encompass the entire sector and then by sheer force of will, contracted himself to contain and destroy it.

Flodo Span sacrificed himself when the Central Power Battery of Oa was about to blow. He helped Hal Jordan travel to the dimension where the Guardians retreated, but Flodo lost control of his corporeal essence and became one with the void. Flodo earned a commemorative place in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps.

Like many Green Lanterns, Flodo was seen on Oa resurrected as a Black Lantern.
