But Clark Kent and then Superboy befriend her, and she appears as "Supergirl," doing stunts with Superboy at the athletic festival. Superboy finds himself falling in love with her, but, when she is kidnapped back to Borgonia by the Duke and locked in an iron mask, he goes to her rescue, frees her from the mask, and exposes Norvello's perfidy to the populance. Trivia
- Lucy Regent is the first DC character to be dubbed Supergirl, although she was only wearing a stunt costume with an S-Shield on her chest and had no superpowers. Another Super-Girl would appear a few years later, but would only be a mystically created construct, who briefly acquired powers similar to that of Superman. Superman's cousin would finally make her debut as the "3rd" Supergirl in 1959.
