Synopsis for "The Final Knight"
Lex Luthor devises yet another plan in the hopes of saving Earth. With the foreknowledge that the sun will soon go supernova, Luthor has designed a network of interlinking force-field relay switches. The Flash manufactures a half million of these items in under twelve hours. Working together, the machines should create an energy grid large enough to protect Earth from the sudden explosion of solar energy. The only problem lies in the fact that they must be physically deployed at the point of nova. Invariably, the person responsible for such a task is not likely to survive the experience. Superman volunteers to pilot the ship that will deploy the force fields.
While the others discuss the situation amongst themselves, Ferro sneaks aboard Dusk's craft, and takes off. He refuses to allow someone as important as Superman to sacrifice himself.
Parallax arrives and offers to help. With the exception of Batman, most of the other heroes are happy to see him. Batman still remembers Parallax as the self-appointed god who attempted to recreate the universe.
Parallax flies out toward the sun and pulls Ferro away from the edge of the sun's corona before it has a chance to kill him. Generating a wave of green energy, he sends Ferro back home. Parallax then turns his attention on the sun. While chanting the oath of the Green Lantern Corps, Hal flies into the center of the sun, destroying the Sun-Eater. He releases all of his vast power to reignite the sun, but at the cost of his own life. Earth is safe once again.
