DiscordIntegrator: custom channels

I like the Discord widget and how easy it was to implement it. Unfortunately, the widget does not quite display what we would like it to display.

Current version displays:

Discord logo
Count of members online
Voice channels
List of members online
Link to join Discord server

What we would like to display instead:

Discord logo
Count of members online
Custom channels (e.g. #wiki, #news, #support, etc.) - we don't really use voice channels, because we are a bunch of shy, but nice people
Link to join Discord server

I know that changing the current version for DiscordIntegrator will probably not be applicable for everyone, that's why I think I would have to make my own version of it. If I understand correctly, I would have to copy the JS code from this DiscordIntegrator, paste it into the Common.js and modify it. My knowledge of JS is limited to making simple calculators on our wiki. I would have to find documentation of Discord API (probably this one?) and just add the custom channels. Then remove the code that is not needed. I have looked and found that there is Discord.js and DiscordChat.js, but none of these have the functionality that I am looking for (also I can't get DiscordChat to show on our wiki). Is it even possible to add custom channels to the widget? Does anyone have an info on where to find the information I am looking for or a link to a source?

PS: If anyone has a code that I can use, I am more than happy to use it. :)

If you're basing your script on something, base it on Discord, not DiscordIntegrator. DiscordIntegrator embeds the Discord-provided widget which cannot be modified, whereas Discord fetches the widget information from Discord's API and displays it in a format similar to DiscordIntegrator's, but customizable.

I was more leaning towards the DiscordIntegrator, because it has less lines of code. xD

Why does it say it's "Experimental"? Is it because of the "roles-*" variable?

It would appear that the Discord data that is passed to the script has only limited parameters (this data: https://discordapp.com/api/guilds/1238437678974898196/widget.json ). There is no other way expend the scope of this to get more data from a server, is it? This data only includes voice channels.

I've read the Discord API "getting started" documentation, but I couldn't figure out how to implement it on the wiki. Can you give me an advice?

Sorry for a late reply.

Discord (the script) is marked experimental because Discord (the company) broke some features after the removal of user IDs from the widget API response, such as the roles configuration.

There is no way to get Discord to add more data to the widget response. However, you could probably hardcode channel names in your script and have it display these channels, if your intention was only to have them in the widget's list.

If you were planning to show channel contents within the widget, you'd probably have to have a backend of your own. Your backend can grab channel contents from Discord and your script would then talk to your backend instead of Discord's to display these contents. But that gets much more complicated. Is this what you were planning to do, or only display the channel names?

That's OK, I am sure you must have been very busy. Happens.

We investigated getting data from an API or bot, but after hours of research, we realized that we don't need/want that much data - we actually just want user count. So, my friend just hard-coded the whole widget in less than 50 lines (without listing users/avatars/roles). I find his code much easier to understand that the code used on Discord.js. Thank you for all the help.
