Trivia

  • Badly Animated Man is largely a parody of 1960s and 1970s superhero television cartoons produced using limited animation, most notably from Hanna-Barbera. To complete the allusion, Badly Animated Man is voiced by Gary Owens, the voice of such Hanna-Barbera superhero characters (such as Space Ghost and the Blue Falcon).
    • The same year, Gary Owens voiced another parody of Hanna-Barbera superhero characters: Powdered Toast Man on Nickelodeon's The Ren & Stimpy Show.
  • Near the end of the episode, when Badly Animated Man is flying off, he says "As long as rap stars and blue elves have their own cartoon shows, I'll be around!" These are references to the short-lived Hammerman Saturday morning cartoon from the previous year (a show produced by DIC Entertainment starring rap star MC Hammer as a superhero with magical dancing shoes) and The Smurfs animated series of the 1980s (produced by the aforementioned Hanna-Barbera).
