Smalltown, USA is a small rural town featured in The Muppets. An embodiment of Americana, the 102 resident community is home to Gary, Walter and local teacher Mary.
The Smalltown, USA scenes were filmed on the Warner Bros. backlot in Burbank, CA; the sequences utilized the studio's "Midwest Street," which had previously been used as Stars Hollow on the television series Gilmore Girls and was featured in such films as East of Eden and Rebel Without A Cause. Production designer Steve Saklad described the town as a "parallel universe" which has "a bit of Norman Rockwell and a bit of classic, Small Town, USA, look to it".
Notes
Gary's tickets to Los Angeles don't read "Smalltown, USA". Instead, they read "Smalltown, Heartland" instead.
