Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, is an upcoming American Marvel Studios Animation animated streaming television series, created for Disney+. It is an alternate universe counterpart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is the twelfth Disney+ MCU series, and the first season is an installment of Phase Five. It is scheduled to premiere on January 29, 2025.
Premise
Set before Captain America: Civil War, but set in an alternate timeline, Peter Parker develops his skills to become everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Production
On November 12, 2021, during Disney+ Day 2021, it was announced that an animated Spider-Man television series that will pay homage to its comic book roots titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year was in development for Disney+ with Jeff Trammell attached to write and executive produce. A specific release date has not been set yet.
On July 22, 2022, Marvel Studios announced that the series would premiere in 2024.[11]
On October 6, 2023, it was revealed that the series is scheduled to premiere on November 2, 2024.[3]
On December 11, 2023, it was announced that the series was still set to be released in 2024 and was given a new title as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.[12]
On October 24, 2024, it was reported that the series had been pushed back to sometime in 2025.[13] A few days later, it was reported that the series would now premiere on January 29, 2025.[14]
Trivia
- While this is set prior to Spider-Man's introduction in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland does not reprise his role of Peter Parker and nor does Marisa Tomei return as Aunt May.
- This series takes place in 2015, six months before Civil War.[15]
- This is the second animated MCU show that does not have Tom Holland voice Spider-Man after the What If...? episode "What If... Zombies!?".
- Hudson Thames previously voiced Spider-Man in that What If...? episode.
- Tom Holland is unable to voice Spider-Man in animated MCU works due to rights issues with Sony.
- Not counting Spidey and his Amazing Friends, this will be the first Spider-Man series to be CGI-animated since Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.
- Animation will be done by Japanese studio Polygon Pictures, who previously worked on shows such as Tron: Uprising and Star Wars Resistance.
- This series shows Norman Osborn/Green Goblin as Peter Parker's mentor instead of Tony Stark/Iron Man from the main universe.
- This series marks the MCU debut of Tombstone, but not in live-action.
- Peter’s teacher (one of them) is named Mr. Campbell after Bruce Campbell who stared in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire.
- In one of the released images, a car crashes into a bus, which is a parallel to Spider-Man stopping that same thing happening, shown by Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War. This fits quite well in the sense that this series takes place six months before the events of that film.
- This marks Harry Osborn's first appearance in the MCU but not in live action.
