The Training of Kame-Sen'nin
With the Dragon Balls gone and Bulma's summer vacation over, Goku goes to the remote house of the Turtle Hermit, Kame-Sen'nin, to be trained in the martial arts. There, the girl-ogling old master promises to teach Goku everything he knows…and prepare him for the Tenka'ichi Budôkai, the great tournament to determine the Strongest Fighter in the World! But Goku's fellow student, the Shaolin monk Kuririn, isn't above cheating to be the best. Can the two of them get along as they undergo the strangest martial arts training ever?[1]
Story
Long, long ago, in the mountains, there lived a young boy called Son Goku. His simple life was interrupted by Bulma, a girl from the city who is search for the seven magical "Dragon Balls", which, when gathered, will grant any one wish. The pair search far and wide, and met many friends and enemies, including Oolong, Yamcha, and Pu'ar. In the end, most of our heroes went back to Bulma's house in the city, leaving only Goku, who has now sought out the questionably wise Kame-sen'nin to train him in the martial arts…[1]
Volume introduction by Akira Toriyama
"About half a year ago, during the night, I ended up taking in a stray cat. It was a rainy night, so I took pity on it and figured that I would let it stay until the rain let up. But it was a really friendly, cute cat, so we decided make it an addition to the household. It's a completely black cat, so we called it "Koge" (char). As a result my assistant Matsuyama, who's deathly afraid of cats, is in a constant state of terror every time he comes over to work."[1]
