The Boss troll is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.
Characteristics
Great green goons that love to smack and smash anything and everything with their clobbering clubs. Goofily garbed in garish brown fluffy outfits, they're not to be underestimated in battle despite their foolish fashion sense. They often make deadly desperate attacks that can down an adventurer in a single bothersome blow. Sometimes, they'll attempt to shove a single enemy right out of battle and out of action.

Dragon Quest III
A Boss troll is acting as the king of Manoza using the Mod rod and banishes Simão due to wielding the Mountaincleaver, which can reveal the way to Necrogond. When the Hero first arrives there, the Boss Troll in its king disguise throws him and the party into the dungeon, though they're let out by castle guards sympathetic to the real ruler. By the time the Mirror of Ra is obtained, the disguised Boss troll is sleeping in the king's bed and the Hero uses the Mirror to reveal the imposter and fight the monster to bring its tyranny over Manoza to an end.

A duo of Boss Trolls were responsible for kidnapping the Chancellor of Argonia, his wife, and his maid, hoping to eat them for dinner. The Hero finds their secret kitchen at the end of the Troll's Maze. He defeats them and they all manage to escape the dungeon.
