Chow Mein is a recurring boss monster in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances
Dragon Quest IV
Chow Mein is one of the secret bosses, and is found deep underground along with Foo Yung, arguing with him about which is better: "chickens or eggs?". He is a strong boss with the ability to attack twice per turn and muster his attack. He can also use feathers to protect himself, and can defend very strongly.
Among the many prices he and his companion can bestow the Chosen, the most important one is the first, the Yggdrasil flower, necessary to revive the unjustly killed Rose. He and Foo Yung must be defeated several more times to obtain the other prices, among which there is Pandemonic Equipment.

Trivia
- Chow Mein's name comes from the Chinese dish chow mein. One variation of the dish is chicken chow mein.
- Chow Mein and Foo Yung's argument about chicken or eggs being better is similar to the argument about which came first: the chicken or the egg.
