The Faerie Palace is a hidden castle in Dragon Quest V. Located over a lake on the central continent, it is normally invisible to humans, and is only accessible via the use of the Faerie horn. It is the home of the Faerie Queen.
The faeries within the palace are slightly closer to the human world than those in Faerie Lea, being well informed of world events such as the birth of the legendary hero and the lineage of the protagonist and his bride.
Synopsis
The hero and his children travel to the Faerie Palace during their quest to locate a new Gold Orb, in order to restore Zenithia to the sky. However, the Faerie Queen informs them that she no longer possesses enough magic to create such a powerful orb, only being able to muster enough strength to create a weak replica. The hero is thus guided to a magical painting, which transports him backwards in time to the Whealbrook of the past; allowing him to not only see his father again, but meet himself at a younger age, when he still possessed the Gold Orb. The present-day hero discreetly swaps the orb with its weaker cousin, thus allowing him to bring the original orb to the present, averting its destruction at the hands of Ladja.
After the end of the game the party can return to the Faerie Palace, where another magical painting has been installed. This one allows the hero to travel to a past version of Lofty Peak, when his parents were still courting. Here he is able to upgrade Madalena's locket to its full splendor.
