The leather armour, also known as leather suit, is a recurring type of armour in the Dragon Quest series. It is light armour, which is often available early on in various games.

Dragon Quest
Leather armour can be bought at Tantegel, Brecconary, Garinham, and Cantlin for 70 gold. Due to text restrictions in the Game Boy Color version of the game, leather armour was renamed to "Leathr" with a symbol for armour next to it. In the Mobile versions, it was renamed to "leather suit".

Dragon Quest II
Leather armour has a defense bonus of +6. It can only be equipped by the Prince of Midenhall and the Prince of Cannock, who both start the game with it equipped.
Dragon Quest III
Leather armour has a defense bonus of +12. It can be equipped by the Hero, Warriors, Priests, Merchants, Thieves, and Sages. It can be purchased for 150 gold in Aliahan, Reeve, and Romaria and sold for 112 gold.
Dragon Quest IV
Leather armour has a defense bonus of +12 and can be worn by everyone except Maya and Meena. Laurel has this among his equipment.
It can be purchased for 180 gold coins and sold for 135. Tessie will sell this at Torneko's shop for 270.

Leather armour has a defense bonus of +11.
Dragon Quest VI
Leather armour has a defence bonus of +11 and a style bonus of +15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Nevan, Amos, Terry, Lizzie, and Goowain. It can be purchased in Weaver's Peak, Haggleton, Somnia, and Port Haven for 180 gold and sold for 130 gold.
Dragon Quest VII
Leather armour has a defence bonus of +11 and a style bonus of +15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, Sir Mervyn, and Aishe. It can be purchased in Ballymolloy for 180 gold. Leather armour can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
Dragon Quest VIII
Leather armour has a defence bonus of +11 and can be equipped by the Hero, Angelo, and Morrie. It can be purchased in Farebury for 180 gold and sold for 90 gold. Leather armour can be created in the Alchemy Pot by combining wayfarer's clothes with a magic beast hide. It can also be upgraded into the scale armour by combining it with a dragon scale.
