The power shield (originally shield of strength) is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. Aside from various defense and spell damage reduction, it can also be use repeatedly as an item in battles. The effect would heal a moderate amount of HP to one ally.

The Shield of strength has the defense bonus of +18, and can be equipped by both The Prince of Midenhall & The Prince of Cannock. It can be purchased for 21,500 gold coins and sold for 16,125.
It can be used in battle to cast Midheal, and is usable by the Princess of Moonbrooke, despite being able to unequip it herself.

Dragon Quest III
The Shield of strength has the defense bonus of +40, and can be equipped by The Hero and Warriors. It can be purchased for 15,000 gold coins and sold for 11,250.
It can be used in battle to cast Healmore.
The shield is available for purchase in Domdora.
Dragon Quest IV
The Power shield has the defense bonus of +40. It can be equipped by The Hero, Ragnar, Kiryl and Torneko. The shield can be purchased at El Forado for 13,000 gold coins and sold for 9,750.
The character who use this in battle will cast Midheal on themselves.
Dragon Quest V
The power shield has a defense bonus of +45. The Hero, Blizzybody, and Conkuistador can equip it. It can be bought in Faerie Lea for 25,000 gold, but only during the third generation.
Dragon Quest VI
The power shield has a defense bonus of +45, a style bonus of +33, and can be equipped by The Hero, Carver, Terry, Amos, and the slime buddies can equip it. It is found in both the Somnia Well & the second half of the Fungeon. The enemies Ne'er-do-well and Bad karmour can use it in battle.
Dragon Quest VII
The power shield has a defense bonus of +40 and a style bonus of +33. It can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel, Kiefer, Ruff, and Aishe and can be purchased on the Sea Dragon and the Divine Shrine for 25,000 gold and sold for 12,500 gold.
Dragon Quest VIII
The power shield has a defense bonus of +38 and reduces breath damage by 10. It reduces the damage from fire- and ice-based attacks by 15 points. It can be used in battle as an item to cast Midheal on the user. It can be equipped by the Hero, Yangus, or Angelo and sold for 9,000 gold. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot. Recipe: Magic shield + Strength ring + Cured cheese.
