History
editThe station opened on 11 February 1957. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.

Passenger statistics
editIn fiscal 2018, the station was used by an average of 1168 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[1] This was a 4.18% reduction compared to the fiscal 2017 count of 1219 passengers daily.[2]
