Ashur Mall (Syriac: ܡܳܐܢܨܶܢܥܳܐ, Arabic: عاشور مول), also known as Ashur Land Mall (Arabic: عاشور لاند مول, Syriac: ܡܳܐܢܨܽܘܪܝܐܳܐ ܕ݂ܩܽܘܝܳܡܳܐ) is a large shopping under construction in of Mosul, Iraq. It is one of the largest shopping malls in Iraq and is located near the Presidential Site of Saddam Hussein on Forest Street opposite the Tourist Island of Mosul in Sudair region. The mall is noted for its Syriac–Assyrian architecture.[1]

History

On 13 November 2024, buses were launched from the mall to support the Iraq national football team.[2]

Features

Ashur Mall consists of 3 floors. It covers an area of 17,000 square metres (4.2 acres). The mall includes than 100 shops and a large hypermarket. It is surrounded by walls and gates built with full grandeur in the Assyrian style. Currently for trial, 25 shops have been opened. As people will get to know more about the place.[3] The area also include a private parking lot, fountains, and green spaces. Ard Farah City Hall and Games Hall have been built to attract student trips.

The architectural features of the mall includes Lamassu statues and Syriac–Assyrian murals. There is a large gate similar to the entrances antiquity era Assyrian cities. It is also home to the first hybrid market in Mosul. The mall is considered to preserve the Assyrian culture of Iraq. The mall embodies Assyrian civilization[4]
